Local notes for Vaughan

  • Ontario regulation: work involving Electricians must be done by a licensed Electricians contractor (Licensed Electrical Contractor, LEC). Parts of general renovations involving Electricians must also be assigned to LEC; work must be reported to ESA before starting (or within 48 hours), and inspected by ESA after completion. License numbers can be checked at ESA's official site findacontractor.esasafe.com (ESA Homeowner Guide).

Saving money & avoiding pitfalls

  • Ask if Electricians can use aluminum wire connectors (pigtailing), much cheaper than full rewiring; we couldn't find Greater Toronto Area pricing for this.
